Author Katie Bell did not have to look far for inspiration for her debut children’s book, Hello, God, It’s Me! Based on a heartfelt prayer that her late mother would share with Katie and her sister each night when they were young, it is the basis for her children’s book, one that she and her husband share with their own child and hopes other parents will also.
Ahead of her time, Katie’s mother used the prayer to have a special moment with her daughters, when they could express gratitude for the day and share its highs and lows in their own, relaxed way. It allowed them to celebrate the little things that brought them joy and happiness while acknowledging the sad or bad things they struggled with. Katie’s book is a lighthearted and colorful version of this spoken prayer with the added significance of her mother’s dear friend as its illustrator.
Katie is a wife and a mother to a four-year-old son with whom she enjoys visiting parks, museums, and various activities throughout the Seattle area where they live with their seven-year-old yellow lab, Colby.
